I just read The Fifth Avenue Story Society last week and was surprised at how much I enjoyed it. I'm pretty certain this is a new to me author, as well. The book switches back and forth between a small group of people that each receive a mysterious invite to join a local society. It follows their joys, triumphs, and lows during their time together. There were a few things I felt the novel could have left off, but otherwise, it was really good. There is a surprising twist at the end that I didn't see coming coupled with a few cheesy hallmark moments. 

I have read Colleen Coble's books for YEARS. Maybe over a decade, now? Her books are always suspenseful coupled with relatable characters. However, this book was probably a bit more on the thriller end. I couldn't put it down. Classic suspense with a weird twist at the end.

I have read most of Moriarty's books and I have to say this one was not a favorite. Too many weird scenes. Too many weird characters. And the ending just left me feeling blah. 

All that to say, I have thoroughly enjoyed having time to read this summer!! :D What have you been reading??

A Happy Friday Post

Good morning, friends! I've been down for the count thanks to wisdom teeth removal earlier this week which landed me on the couch for the last two days. The silver lining? I've had lots of time to read and an excuse to eat mashed potatoes for lunch and dinner. Today is the first day the pain has felt manageable, so I'm feeling a tad bit more human. ;) I guess this means I need to catch up laundry, too.

Speaking of books, I read three in a row this week. The Bookshop at the Shore would have gotten a solid five stars from me if it hadn't been for language. Otherwise....quirky characters, Scottish backdrop, books, and a story of blended families. I truly loved it! I also read The Light Between The Oceans (honestly, a bit to tragic for me to have loved, but good none the less), and Eleanor Oliphant is completely fine. I really enjoyed the latter, and I'm curious if they will make a movie?!

Have you read any good books lately? Who is your favorite author? I've fallen into the hole of bookstagrammers, and have found so many new authors to explore.

Summer Days

Our summer days have centered around lots of swimming, reading, ice cream, and a little hiking thrown in here and there. 

One of my favorite childhood memories was reading the Little House books. I read them all...probably more than once. The girls are still a bit too young for the full series, but I've enjoyed reading to them from the little chapter books.

Evie has been learning to swim this year. She can keep her head above the water, float, and has been working hard to swim under the water. It's amazing how quickly she has learned and she LOVES it!

A Change of Fortune by Jen Turano

I've enjoyed most of Jen Turano's books. Her story lines tend to weave light hearted romance, with just enough humor to keep it interesting. Fun, and light. :)

A Rush of Wings by Kristen Heitzmann

I'm a big fan of Kristen Heitzmann. She writes in typically Christian romance fashion...slight mystery, and a whole lot of romance.
